There’s still time to see ZooLights – but hurry!

If you’ve never been to the Lincoln Park Zoo’s ZooLights, it’s time to bundle up in your new coat/scarf/gloves/overpriced boots and go on safari.

For those of you living under a rock (north of Diversey? Ooooooh snap.), the Lincoln Park Zoo covers its grounds in tens of thousands of lights to bring in visitors to the zoo during the winter and provide a fun, free event for families.  The Christmas music played over the grounds combined with a cup of hot cocoa and a man/lady friend on your arm makes ZooLights a perfect date night and great way to celebrate the season.

If you haven’t been yet, I’ve provided your likely excuses and my opinion on why they’re lame:

You’re anti-zoo
You see Bambi in a cage and you want to set her free so she has space to run and frolic and eat berries.  Lucky for you, it’s possible to walk the entire campus and not see a single animal.  Most of the exhibits have been moved indoors for the winter so if you’re cool staying outside, you can pretend you’re at a weirdly landscaped park.

You’re anti-cold
Man up. We’ve had a ridiculously mild winter and the forecast for this week is downright balmy.  Wear some layers, bring a thermos, practice your speed walking and you’ll be just fine.

You’re anti-fun
This could be the only other possible explanation in the entire world why you wouldn’t want to go to the spectacle that is ZooLights.  I’m sorry to hear this. Good luck to you.

The last day to see the lights is January 1st so the time to plan is now! Feel like a kid again and wrap up the holiday season right with this fun, free activity in our own backyard.
